30 May Why We Love What We Do!

For almost 17 years I have had the privilege of sharing one of the most special days in a couple’s relationship.  We have successfully executed hundreds of weddings and have memories to last a lifetime.  However, we recently experienced a first.  We received a review from a guest at one of our weddings.  Our commitment to each event has always gone beyond our client.  We strive for each guest and vendor to have an enjoyable experience.  How awesome is it that this guest noticed and took the time to share her thoughts on WeddingWire!

30 May Meet Meredith!

We are excited about our 2017 summer intern.

 

Meredith Teasdale is a Senior at East Carolina University and is studying Hospitality Management, with a concentration in Conventions and Special Events, along with a minor in Business Administration. Meredith is involved on campus as being apart of the ECU Pirate Planners and managing the Student Recreation and Wellness Center. She is very detail oriented and organized and has a list for just about anything and everything. While she is not in school or working, she enjoys hanging out with her friends and family. Meredith went on to say to me, “I needed reassurance that this is exactly what I wanted to do, and I received that reassurance when I cried after the first wedding I assisted!” She is super excited to put her passion to work with Shawn Schindler Events this summer and meet some awesome clients and vendors!

11 Nov Shawn Schindler Events Honors Our Veterans

We stop today to give thanks and remember the sacrifice of the men and women who have served and are currently serving in the United States Military.    Personally I know I do not have the words to express my appreciation to my family, friends and clients that have given so much for me and our country by serving in the military.

As just a small token of our appreciation, we are excited to announce on December 14th, we will host the 3rd annual Holiday luncheon for the Raleigh Vet Center at 1705 Prime at 1705 E. Millbrook Drive in Raleigh.

Many of the vendors that have participated in years past have committed to helping again with this event, most of them for the 3rd year!   We want to open this opportunity all of our fellow event professionals to give back to our local vets so that their holiday season can be special.

Have you been to any weddings lately? Noticed anything different? We have! Wedding hashtags are the newest and trendiest way for you and your guests to post photos from your wedding. This recent article from The Knot highlights how expectations for wedding etiquette have changed and how you can adapt. We think this article is a great guide for both brides/grooms and wedding guests. Here are some points we wanted to highlight:

 

“Send out traditional paper invites for the main event”

Traditional paper invitations are timeless and appropriate for the occasion. An email simply does not speak the same level of importance as a physical paper invitation. Don’t get us wrong, we agree with Simone Hill that emails are perfectly fine for celebrations leading up to and after the wedding, but not for the actual wedding.

 

“Leave the phone in your purse or pocket”

Practically everyone has a smartphone nowadays, and anywhere you go you can see someone on their phone. But is a wedding really the most appropriate place to do this?Trust us, we love our smartphones just as much as anyone else, but during the wedding day, we want our main focus to be on the bride and groom.

 

“Follow the directions for the RSVP”

This is so important, we cannot stress enough how crucial it is to reply to the RSVP. When we as wedding planners are trying to coordinate all of the RSVP’s coming into our inbox, it can become very confusing, especially when the bride and groom are receiving texts and then try to transfer that information to us. So please, make it easier on the bride and groom and follow RSVP etiquette!

Shawn Schindler, Owner and Lead Consultant of Shawn Schindler Events is celebrating 15 years in the event industry and we feel the best way to celebrate such a momentous milestone, is to give back!

 

Shawn shares, “I have been so blessed by my career!  I deeply value the relationships with the event professionals I have the privilege of working with each week and our amazing staff, past and present, that have contributed greatly to our success.   Most importantly, my life has been so enriched by the hundreds of couples and families I have worked with during my 15 years.  Giving back seems small compared to how full my life is as a professional event planner.”

 

During our anniversary month of November, for every client that books our Spectacular event package, Shawn Schindler Events will donate $150 to one of our team selected charities. In addition to this, for any client who books our Timeless package, we will donate $50.

 
Our team thought long and hard about how we should celebrate the accomplishments and success of Shawn Schindler Events. After realizing how passionate we are about our community and all of those within it that help make every event we do so special, we realized giving back that very same community is the best way to celebrate.

 
We have been so blessed to be able to have been a part of so many individuals’ lives and to be a part of so many more as the years continue. It truly is a huge accomplishment for the Shawn Schindler Events team to have made it 15 years in the hands with growing success, of Shawn Schindler.

 
Each one of us came together to think of our own local nonprofits to which we would charitably contribute and our choices are as follows. Every single one of these amazing organizations have provided our community with resources, help and so much more. Giving back is something very important to us at Shawn Schindler Events.

Recently, we had met two wonderful young women who have started their own company, Rebellion Bow Ties. Being a supporter of local businesses, we have fallen in love with Rebellion Bow Ties. Founded by two single mothers, Grace Bounds and Deborah Kirby, personally handcraft the bow ties sold.

This bow tie company utilizes recycled fabrics and is up-cycled into a wearable, quality bow tie.  What makes this company so unique is that they donate 5% of all proceed earned to the charity of the month. If you yourself work for a non-profit, you are able to communicate with the company about becoming an organization to which they donate. You are also able to donate directly, without the purchase of a bow tie to their charity of the month through their website.

The current charity of the month is, Extraordinary Ventures. Extraordinary Ventures is a non-profit organization who provides men and women with autism or other developmental disabilities with jobs.

June 16th marked yet another Greater Triangle Trinity Awards Gala held at The Grand Marquise Ballroom in Garner, North Carolina. Flowing gowns and fitted suites decorated the ISES members and their guests in attendance for recognition of the best events held during this past event season.

 
Shawn Schindler Events was blessed to take home the 2015 Trinity Award for “Best Social Event” for Nate and Michelle McMillan’s 50th Birthday of Glitter, Glamour and Glitz.

 
While this award exemplified the outstanding talents of owner and lead consultant, Shawn Schindler, it was truly a team effort made possible by the amazing industry members who contributed.

 
Shawn Schindler Events worked with some of the top Triangle event industry companies to create an event unseen to anything in our area. The Grand Marquise Ballroom, Fresh Affairs, Rocky Top Hospitality, Shutterbooth, Brian Mullins Photography, Creative Visions, Capital Production Group, Halftone Studios, AFR and Elevate all feverishly worked in conjunction with our wonderful staff exemplifying their talents in formulation for the creation of Glitter, Glamour and Glitz.

 
In the event industry, you are what your team is. Without the dedicated effort our fellow industry ISES members mentioned, such an award would have been possible.

 

Congratulations to all who won at the annual Trinity Awards Gala and copious thank you’s to those who helped make our team, once more, award winning!

The Charlotte, North Carolina Chapter of the International Special Event Society hosted the Crown Jewel Awards on April 26th, 2015 recognizing the creativity of the premier events throughout the Carolinas.
Inside a tent at the Mint Museum, purple lighting and elegant décor greeted ISES industry members into the awards gala. The first award ceremony of the season for Shawn Schindler Events awarded a talented team from the Greater Triangle Chapter with “Best ISES Team Event.” The award recognized the contributions and talents of participating members who participated in the submitted event.
The evening began with a cocktail reception and silent auction of Charlotte based artists’ works. Attendees mingled while enjoy the ambiance, as the reception began to shift into dinner and the awards ceremony. International Special Event Society members within in the Carolina’s took home an array of awards, recognizing their talent.
Upon winning our own award (Best ISES Team Event), music dancing, entertainment and conversation tied up the evening. With one award won so far, the awards’ season at Shawn Schindler Events is just getting started!
